![]() ![]() The Feeding Trough is treated as a thatch structure and can be damaged by anything except non-explosive ranged attacks.An icon appears above the name on tames that indicates if they are within range of a feeding trough.Creatures only eat food from the feeding trough if they would eat it from their inventory - herbivores will not eat meat, carnivores will not eat berries, and so on.Baby dinosaurs can't eat from the trough until they reach the Juvenile stage.Usually it sorts itself out with most dinos, but smaller creatures like jerboas or troodons die easily to it. Other players can steal from a feeding trough if it is left unlocked. Players either have to force feed them or leave render and come back to make sure they are eating.Since patch 311.74 or earlier, the Feeding Trough has an option to show the range with a green circle. Tames display the icon regardless of whether the trough(s) they are in range of actually have suitable food for them. The feeding trough holds anything that can be used as feed for any type of tame. The trough works through walls and from higher elevations, so there is no need to put them in water if you have a base above or adjacent to your water pen, nor is it necessary for animals in individual pens to have individual troughs. It does not snap to other structures.įeeding troughs may also be placed and used underwater for taking care of marine creatures. The Feeding Trough does not require a foundation for placement, and as such does not interfere with the spawning of natural resources. ![]()
